Kilo- Adopted

Kilo is a gorgeous 2 year old German Shepherd who was rescued moments before he reached the end of death row at a local shelter.  What’s even better is that he’s an awesome dog!  He’s incredibly smart and has quickly picked up commands “sit/stay”, “wait”, “no”, “heel” and “down”.  He listens wonderfully well for such a young guy, and his favorite command?  “Shake”!  He wants to shake hands with everyone!  He’s a very friendly guy once he gets to know you and the second he approaches you, he sits and offers his paw.

Kilo does well with other dogs (big and small).  Due to his age, he’s still rather playful and can be a bit overbearing, which would not always pair well with a small dog.  We believe he can live with cats provided there’s good supervision and correction, if needed.  He’s even learned to play with toys, something that was a completely foreign concept to him when he first came into the program.

Kilo is house trained and kennel trained, and trusts his humans completely once bonded. He does display some typical Shepherd behaviors such as stranger-danger (mostly men), and sometimes has a big bark towards people he’s unfamiliar with. At this time, we are not considering him for homes with children under the age of 12.  He is ready for a strong leader to bond with and show him how to react to things properly.

Take a look at this video, which tells Kilo’s story!

This boy is a diamond in the ruff! If you’re interested in adopting this dog, please complete a pet adoption application questionnaire and mention Kilo!
